Sessions
Gaëlle Rouard is a French artist and filmmaker who has been working since the early 1990s with experimental photochemical processing processes. At the Oliva Art Centre the filmmaker converts her biggest project to date, the film “Darkness, Darkness, Burning Bright” (2022) structured in two acts: Prelude and Oraison, into a diptych-installation. The film, whose soundtrack was also created by the author, has been awarded at several festivals where it has been presented: it won the Istanbul International Film Festival award, the Experimental Competition award at Curtas Vila do Conde and the Best Sound Design award at the Ann Arbor Film Festival (2023). In this exhibition, alongside the installation, works less known to the public will also be presented, such as the hundreds of photographs made in the last three years, created from processes of exposure to light
of natural elements and personal objects, each one of these images being therefore unique. More info: centrodearteoliva.pt
