Steve Gunn created a soundtrack for the four-part series "Visions In Meditation", directed between 1989 and 1990 by Stan Brakhage, which he will perform live in a very special session of this project originally created for the 2021 edition of the Film Festival Ghent. Brakhage was one of the most important figures in 20th century American experimental cinema. Over five decades he created an immense body of work with recurring central themes (birth, death, sexuality, innocence) and a huge variety of formats and techniques: handheld-camera shooting, painting and scratching on the film itself, on-camera editing, and collages.

"Ever since I, as a young film student, discovered the work of Stan Brakhage, I have also discovered that his films are an endless and liberating source of inspiration. Being non-narrative films, Brakhage often referred to his work as 'visual music'. As a musician, I find this idea very inspiring for my own work. These films I will be performing with, 'Visions in Meditation', resonate deeply with me with their mix of landscape and dream consciousness.
