In Focus, the retrospective section of Curtas that seeks to present, in a more exhaustive way, the work of directors with established credits and of great influence in cinema worldwide.

The concept is to allow the discovery of significant names, whose visibility is opportune and, eventually, unprecedented in Portugal. This is the case of fundamental authors who, in past editions, were in Vila do Conde to present their work, with several relevant and without being exhaustive examples, among which, and not exhaustively, the following stand out: Carla Simón (2022) , Todd Solondz (2019), Nadav Lapid (2018), F.J. Ossang (2017), Josh Mond (2016), Quentin Dupieux (2015), Kelly Reichardt (2014), Bill Morrison (2013), Olivier Assayas (2012).


Curtas curatorial work also focuses on key figures in experimental cinema, past and present, such as Ben Rivers and Ben Russell (2015), Bill Morrison (2011), Ken Jacobs (2010), Peter Tscherkassky (2006).
